What is SchoolCARE?

SchoolCARE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, committed to providing long-term funding to ensure that the high standards of education in Albany are maintained, despite state budget cuts. Since 2001, when it was established by a group of concerned parents and community members, SchoolCARE has provided more than $3 million to equitably support all of Albany’s K-12 schools.

What we are funding this year

For the 2012-2013 school year, SchoolCARE has pledged almost $270,000 to the Albany Unified School District. This money will fund:
  • Cornell, Marin and Ocean View Elementary Schools: Intervention and reading specialists, art enrichment;
  • Albany Middle School: Counseling, library technician;
  • Albany High School: Funding towards four elective sections to enhance choice and schedule flexibility, library technician/aide;
  • MacGregor High School: Funding towards culinary arts program.
